This is the Message version of Psalm 19: a very different, loose translation of the text, but useful in the context I need for this hymn of creation and God’s majesty.
It would be wonderful if you could record this loose translation of the beginning of Mark’s Gospel for me, using the usual instructions.
I apologise, but the timescales are quite tight, and I need it recorded in the next couple of days before the end of the 29th July 2019 as we need it for a creative liturgy of the following day. Please read all of this text on the voice memo app of your phone and send it to me either via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or you can send it via WhatsApp (or even record it directly as an audio message on WhatsApp) to +447976802123
The text is as follows:
The good news of Jesus Christ—the Subversive Message!—begins here.
In the scroll of the prophet Isaiah, he says.
Watch closely: I’m sending my preacher ahead of you;
He’ll make the road smooth for you.
Thunder in the desert!
Prepare for God’s arrival!
Make the road smooth and straight!
John the Baptizer appeared in the wild, preaching a baptism of life-change that leads to the forgiveness of sins. People thronged to him from Judea and Jerusalem and, as they confessed their sins, were baptized by him in the Jordan River into a changed life.
As he preached he said, “The real action comes next: The star in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.”
At this time, Jesus came and was baptized by John in the Jordan. The moment he came out of the water, he saw the sky split open and God’s Spirit, looking like a dove, come down on him. Along with the Spirit, a voice was heard: “You are my Son, chosen and marked by my love, the pride of my life.”
After John was arrested, Jesus went through Galilee preaching the Message of God: “Time’s up! God’s kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the Message.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord
Praise to you, O Christ
I’d be really grateful if you might be able to record the following texts (in the usual manner) and email them you me at email@example.com . It only takes about 10 minutes and it will be an important contribution to a special form of Eucharistic Devotion to me, and to many: the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
I am presenting a paper and leading a creative Benediction at a conference in Brighton, UK on Dec 2nd 2017 so I need this material asap please. Apologies for the rush.
I am looking for some mysterious, awe-filled, poetic readings of the following texts…
Crowdsource Script for Brighton 2017
Please read these bits in a somewhat mysterious way, words which we will use as Jesus is revealed
He is here…
You might not be able to spot him… but he is present
Really, literally present… amongst us
The image of the invisible God enfleshed at one time, and now with us in another form.
The form he left us: Body and Blood. Bread and wine.
No less than his real self.
To bring change to our humdrum lives, to transform us, as so surely he himself was transformed
To be amongst us… alongside us… with us…
It may be just a glimpse, a suggestion, an idea, captured in the corner of your eye, but he wants to reveal himself to you…
From the mountain top, to the upper room, to this sacred, holy meeting point between you and him.
Please read the following pieces as if they were poems
O saving victim! opening wide
The gate of heaven to man below,
Our foes press hard on every side-
Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow.
All praise and thanks to thee ascend
For evermore, blest One in Three;
O grant us life that shall not end
In our true native land with thee. Amen
Blessed, Praised, Hallowed and Adored,
Be Our Lord Jesus Christ on his throne of Glory
And in the most holy sacrament of the altar
Soul of Christ, sanctify me,
Body of Christ, save me,
Blood of Christ, inebriate me,
Water from the side of Christ, wash me,
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesu, hear me,
Within thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from thee.
From the malicious enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come to thee
That with thy saints I may praise thee
for all eternity. Amen
Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
Please read this straight through without repetition. This will be done in the editing
Blessed be God.
Blessed be his holy Name.
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.
Blessed be the name of Jesus.
Blessed be his most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be his most Precious Blood.
Blessed be Jesus in the most holy Sacrament of the Altar
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete.
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception
Blessed be her glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother. ;
Blessed be S.Joseph, her spouse most chaste.
Blessed be God in his Angels and in his Saints.
Please read the following as if it were a poem
Therefore we, before him bending,
This great Sacrament revere:
Types and shadows have there ending,
For the newer rite is here;
Faith, our outward sense befriending,
Makes the inward vision clear.
Glory let us give, and blessing
To the Father and the Son.
Honour, might, and praise addressing,
While eternal ages run;
Ever to his love confessing,
Who, from both, with both is one. Amen
Thou gavest them bread from heaven.
Containing in itself all sweetness.
O GOD, who in a wondrous Sacrament has left us a memorial of thy passion:
grant that we may so venerate the sacred mysteries of thy Body and Blood;
that we may ever perceive within ourselves the fruit of thy redemption:
who livest and reignest, world without end. Amen.
Again, sorry to bother you with yet another urgent request (they always seen to be last minute!)… but I have been asked to produce some stuff for the Thy Kingdom Come events.
I need you (and as many other people you can rope in) to record these snippets of prayer, slowly, reflectively, just as you would pray them silently in your heart (but out loud, obviously). Please read them all in the usual manner on the voice memo software on your phone and send them to me as soon as you can to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you could read them in one block (it doesn’t matter if you make a mistake, just reread as much as you want to because I will edit the bits I want) with some nice pauses between, then send me a file. It only takes about 4 mins of your time…
Thy Kingdom Come
In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Give me courage Lord, to be who you want me to be.
to whom all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from whom no secrets are hidden:
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name;
through Christ our Lord.
Please help me to understand what I need to do
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the holy spirit be with us all evermore
Jesus, what should I do next, please give me your guidance
Heavenly Father, please be with them as they go on their journey
Lord, get me out of this
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me: a sinner.
Thank you for your provision and your love
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God: pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Lord, help me.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.
Father, heal me
Please watch over all those I love: guard and protect them.
Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy, Lord have Mercy
Just get me through this, okay?
Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.
Thank you. I need these in urgently, absolute deadline is the end of May 2017
